Medical Alternatives

We have a way to save health care dollars by staying healthy.  Avoiding the usual treatment for symptoms, pharmaceuticals, is a great place to start.  You need to find doctors who agree with not turning to drug therapy until other measures have been exhausted – so it really starts with you.
It is so hard to face the fact that we are causing our own disease.  First, we live a lifestyle with some aspects that make us sick.  We also believe what our doctors say which may not be so bright.  Where are they getting their information?  Do they know anything about how to stay healthy?  I have had women tell me their surgeons, at the time of breast cancer surgery, tell them to stay away from pesticides.  Has your doctor ever told you that before you develop cancer? 

What to do?  Start some research with a little of your spare time.  Look into the ingredients in processed foods.  Find videos describing how your food is made.  Find a glossary for ingredients and food additives and get a good dictionary to help you discover the things in your food.  Why does exercise help?  Where are chemicals stored?  Do nutrient supplements work and are they absorbed orally?  Avoid artificial sweeteners at all costs.  Bad stuff.  The business is so powerful the truth never comes out when we need it, they just eliminated most sugared soft drinks in school machines.  The exact opposite of what should have been done.  What are the machines doing in schools in the first place?  They bring the school additional revenues.  Children gain weight because artificial food additives and sweeteners cause weight gain.  Sugared soft drinks are safer than artificially sweetened drinks.

Even though we deal with these issues daily I learned something from the film “Food,Inc.”;  I found out an additive is mixed in with hamburger that has ammonia in it because the ammonia kills a certain e coli bacteria present in most hamburger.  This additive is a filler.   That did it for me.  Fresh organic burger is an even better idea than I originally thought.  Organic for sure!

We were able to bring a good amount of organic foods to the supermarket because we, the public, asked for them.  That is why they are there.  What would happen if you asked at your favorite restaurant if any selections on the menu were organic?  That would help.   Supporting your local organic growers is very important.  You can find a great deal of the foods you need each week right in your neighborhood if you live outside the cities.  Try it.

Educate yourself about good oils and which ones to consume.  Avoid canola, corn and soy, yep, soy products are nearly all GMO foods.  You need an abundance of fat to keep your weight down.  You body needs it.  There are lots of lies regarding fat consumption and cholesterol.  Check out our earlier blog entries.  Our best advice is get active with exercise and get active in your research of contaminant sources and clean food sources.  It will work, you will feel and be better.

Stay Healthy is the Answer

But how?  First of all realize the air you breathe, the food you eat, and the things you put on your body can make you sick.  Toxins accumulate in the body and disrupt the normal functions of many systems.  Toxins often act in place of hormones.  The effect of toxins or the presence of toxins is a new view of the cause of  symptoms and neglected by most doctors and patients alike.  Finding  ways to investigate the level of toxins in the body is smart health care.
Food is health, food heals and food causes disease.  It is work to find local growers and organic farmers and suppliers near your home but it is essential.  If there is anyone in your family with health difficulties the first thing to do is clean up your diet.  Eat fresh organic, eat fresh anything and everything.  If you made a pact with yourself to eat fresh foods only and you had a weight problem you would lose weight without limiting calories.  The additives in factory foods cause obesity.  Artificial, manufactured foods need to be avoided.  Although many grocery stores offer organic products you may find better local resources in your area.  The idea is to pack as much nutrition into every bite and you will feel so much better!!

Clean water is essential. Do not count on your city water or your well.  You can have a perfectly good well one year and the next have TCE in the water due to environmental contamination.  Make sure you know your water source and you take measures to make it as clean as can be. 

Air is dicey- hard to control.  You can find good air cleaners for you home and office.  It is important. 

Then… there is so much you can find to help you stay healthy in homeopathics, nutrient supplements, and many other self-help practices.  Keep in mind your personal care products are going into your blood stream through your lungs and through your skin.  You need to know ingredients and their effects.  Luckily we have the internet and all the great companies providing organic sources of everything.  Household items, personal care products, baby clothes, hemp fashions, bamboo fashions, baby toys, foods and support groups are all easily available.  The key is to keep it simple and clean.  Avoid chemicals in personal care products and food.

Statin Drugs for Children

Is there anyone out there who can tell me their child has actually recieved a recommendation from their physician to start on statin drugs to prevent heart and circulation problems due to cholesterol problems? I am amazed that this is possible but…health care in America is not health care it is disease care. If there has been that recommendation made for your child were you also given a list of side effects of these drugs?  Please let me know. The recommendation  to screen children as young as two for cholesterol and to start on a statins 8-10 years of age was made to physicians some months ago.   Thanks, Coleen

More on Sugared Drinks

Taxing sugared drinks is crazy!!  The makers of artificial additives must be paying for this idea! I have a hard time believing San Franciscoites do not know the damage done by artificial sweeteners, they are taxing these drinks according to the recent news.  When you tax sugared drinks you support artificially sweetened drinks and you guarantee we will have more obesity but very happy chemical companies.  Would you be trilled to see the government tax your competitors!!
Food additives, especially artificial sweeteners are the cause of common health problems.  When the temperature of aspartame exceeds 86 degrees the wood alcohol in aspartame coverts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid which in turn causes metabolic acidosis.  People with aspartame poisoning are being misdiagnosed with MS and systemic lupus.  If you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps. vertigo, dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss, Parkinson’s like problems – you may be affected by artificial sweeteners.  They are starting to add aspartame to sugar to make it sweeter.  It makes you crave carbohydrates and will make you fat!!  A Dr. Roberts stated in the congressional record  during hearings that when he got patients off aspartame, their average weight loss was 19 pounds per person.  It stores in fat cells, particularly in the hips and thighs!!

Your body cannot utilize chemicals, your body considers chemicals to be poison and stores residues in fat tissue to get them out of the blood stream.  Chemicals are not considered food by your body.  There is a new sweetener with stevia and sugar and you can use maple syrup, organic rice syrup, organic sugar- it has all the minerals intack- and I am sure some others you can come up with.  Steez is a good natural fizzy drink instead of the commercial soft drinks.

Government is taxing the wrong thing again, will we ever learn?  There are many in the health care field that believe Gulf War Syndrome is toxicity to chemicals in prepared drinks.    If you have health problems just go one month without these artificial foods and food additives and then access how you feel.  You will be amazed.  In the meantime check us out at drmaulfair.com.
