We have the perfect vehicle in place for health care reform- medical savings accounts. Combined with a high deductible catastrophic illness plan we all save money. Currently, these plans use pretax dollars lowering your taxable income and they are accumulative, you do not loose the benefit year to year. It is like a health 401K.
Imagine there is a pile of money in the society for health care; just health care, like monopoly money. What would happen if the only two parties interested in this money were doctors and patients? That’s right, doctors would HAVE TO TALK WITH THEIR PATIENTS ABOUT MONEY AND THE PRICES WOULD COME DOWN. Those are the players, the doctors and the patients. Doctors may have to accept a few tomatoes and pigs and chickens perhaps but what the hay?!! Patients would have to pool their money to build a hospital for emergencies and provide for a few specialists. They would have to take care of those who were destitute -but that is what their tax money already does, provides for welfare and medicaid.
What we currently have is middle men taking their share of this pie. Insurance companies and stockholders take medical dollars at a great rate. The Obamacare people will now insert themselves in the equation and you have few of the available dollars actually getting to patients to spend on the care and docs they choose. Those that hold the purse control the deal.
Medicare is the perfect example, bankrupt and inept, few of the dollars available actually get to the right people. Only certain treatments are covered – not the effective inexpensive care – but the heroic last minute surgeries and stainless steal and drugs!! Are nutrients or heart saving chelation therapy covered? No. There are so many treatments that work that are not covered and the reason they are not is because patients are not calling the shots. Our body AND our hard earned dollars belong to our government officials who think we are morons and need to be protected or we will do something stupid! You know, really dumb like prolong our lives causing us to collect more social security which will drive up more costs. It is OUR money being taken from us to hoard while it is doled out on those things government approves of in the fashion of the day.
WE ALL MUST DO SOMETHING TO SPEAK UP AND BE HEARD. EVERYONE. EVEN THOSE WHO WANT THE GOV IN THEIR EXAMROOM AND IN THEIR LIVES AND THEIR POCKET. IF YOU WANT THAT SO BE IT/ BUT SPEAK UP VERY VERY LOUD SO WE HAVE A PRAYER OF PRIVATE LIVES. PLEASE. that was a scream
