Ep 118 - Most Doctors Barely Look at Patients These Days

Have you been to other doctors that barely look at your during your appointment? Have you noticed most of them spend more time looking at their computer screens and typing? You’re not alone. Recent studies have found that doctors spend an average of 43% of their time on data entry and just 28% directly caring for patients.

Have they asked you if you have a fire extinguisher in your house?! While that’s good to have, what does that have to do with your health?

Not much of standard medicine seems to make sense these days, so why should the questions they ask you and the information they’re collecting?

The entire patient-physician encounter being largely computerized does NOT replace the mind, the soul, and the caring of a live doctor! Do you agree?

Ep 115 - It's NOT A Healthcare System, It's A Disease Care System

The current standard of medical care in the United States is NOT a healthcare system, it's a disease care system.

  • It's NOT health insurance, it's disease insurance.

  • Don’t believe that? Go to the doctor when you feel fine and aren’t experiencing any symptoms. See how they act and what they say.

  • A symptom is NOT a disease, it's a symptom of a disease.

  • At the Maulfair Medical Center, we practice the old paradigm of restoring health.

  • We concentrate on things that restore health, as opposed to things that suppress a symptom of lost health.

  • If you have health, you don't have disease. And if you don't have disease, you don't have symptoms. That’s very simple, very basic. And the best part is — it’s doable!

Ep 073 - Life would be tragic if it weren't funny

Sad news today, as earlier this morning the world lost one of the most brilliant minds of all time — theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking. One of Hawking's famous quotes was "Life would be tragic if it weren't funny." How appropriate is that quote when it comes to HMOs! Of course, this episode is in jest, but the things you'll hear from your HMO are almost as ridiculous — to the point where it would be laughable — if it wasn't your health that was at stake! Unfortunately, when your "health care plan" in actuality is a "disease management plan" that is a tragedy. And there is nothing funny about that.

Ep 055 - What Is Health Insurance? Part 2

On the last episode, we discussed how it would be nice if "health insurance" was intended to ensure health and not just pay for disease. We explained how modern health insurance is, in reality, "disease insurance." On this follow-up episode Dr Maulfair poses the question: "Do you want a doctor or an insurance company to determine what medical care you get?"

Ep 054 - What Is Health Insurance? Part 1

The basic definition of insurance is a means of guaranteeing protection or safety. And to insure is to make certain by taking measures and precautions. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a "health insurance" that ensures health and doesn't pay for disease? Our modern form of health insurance is, in reality, "disease insurance." Please realize this is NOT semantics. The difference between these philosophies could literally mean life or death. On a lighter note, hear how the Chinese used to pay and not pay for health care.
